Tsundere Lyric Translation

As usual, feedback welcomed. I think I messed up the grammar a bit in order to keep up with the song’s pace. 😀

When I translated this, I couldn’t help but feel that Aki-P REALLY understands girls heart, to the extent that it’s scary. Is this why many Japanese girls get into AKB easily?
+1 for him.

Also, after thinking for about a day I’ve found that it’s impossible to translate “tsundere” into one word or phrase in English. Tsundere is just… Tsundere. A part in Akihabara moe culture that we all love and enjoy. Too complex to be put in a mere phrase. Please understand m(_ _)m.

From wikipedia : “Tsundere (ツンデレ) is a Japanese concept of a character archetype which describes a person with a conceited, irritable, and/or violent personality that suddenly becomes modest and loving when triggered by some sort of cause (such as being alone with someone).”
“Tsundere is a portmanteau of the two words tsuntsun (ツンツン), and deredere (デレデレ). Tsuntsun is defined as “aloof, morose, pointed”, and deredere is defined as “exhausted, lovestruck”.”

But I think a better description is “sharp and sarcastic at the outside, but fawning and lovestruck inside”. As simple as that. I still can transcribe “tsun” and “dere”, but it’s impossible for tsundere.
Long live tsundere! MOE!

Tsundere

Performed by AKB48
Lyrics by Akimoto Yasushi

The instant when our eyes met, I glare, I glare
Looks like I’m not interested, so ignore, ignore
You’re over-friendly with me, move out, move out
Don’t greet me with such a relaxed voice!

Love is troubling
Just with one kiss
He’ll pester for more and more…
He’ll grow serious more and more…
He’ll restraint more and more…
Man is
No thank you!

But, but, I’m a tsundere!
Overlook my cold eyes!
In my heart, I always
Want to be spoiled, I’m lovestruck!
But, but, I’m a tsundere!
Gotta conceal such weakness
I should be living by my own
Only my outer appearance is sarcastic
Please love this two personalities of me

Kind words are no need, no need!
I’m disgusted with it, get lose, get lose!
A gaze from the top is a no, no!
This impertinent is already from my birth

That’s why you got tired
But for this second half of me…
Surely, surely, wholeheartedly yearning…
Surely, surely, will be sad immediately…
Surely, surely, want to chase after you…
The truth is
Hold me tight!

This tsundere couldn’t be cured!
An invisible whip lashed out,
It’s a girl complexity:
Wanna be understood bit by bit!
This tsundere couldn’t be cured!
Enduring the wish to be embraced,
If I get to like you then I lose, yet
This shyness makes me sarcastic!
Please break my pride gently

Suddenly I remember
This bad feeling of mine…
Looks like I’ve done those things
Looks like I’ve said these things
Looks like I’ve mailed that sort of things
I hate this
Oh my god!

But, but, I’m a tsundere!
Overlook my cold eyes!
In my heart, I always
Want to be spoiled, I’m lovestruck!
But, but, I’m a tsundere!
Gotta conceal such weakness
I should be living by my own
Only my outer appearance is sarcastic
Please love this two personalities of me

Please break my pride gently

(Kanji and romaji provided by STUDIO48 )

Edit: changed “Please get along with my arrogant nose” to “Please break my pride gently”.

    >Don’t greet me with such a relaxed voice!
I think it’s friendly words/voice. not relaxed voice.

    >Please get along with my arrogant nose.
nose sounded a little weird. Besides that sentence is a phrase.
so I think it should goes like this.
    Your softness broke my pride.
